a minibus was waiting outside the hotel after a short night. he took a group of guests to the river. there we boarded a speed boat that should bring us in only 3-4 hours to slorkram (which is the starting point for angkor). now that is like all over asia. they have different hours. the hours that u pay by the hour (everything from 40 to 60 minutes) and the hours of travel agents (between 120 and 467 minutes). that damm boat took way more than 4 hours. the first part was on a river and kind of interesting. lots of little villages and other ships. after a 2 hours (or more) we came to the lake (more an ocean than an lake) for hours there was no land to see no bird in the air and we where pretty lucky that there was no wind and the lake was calm. so it meant sitting on the roof of that noise monster and wait. the better part of the ride: meet my new travel partners on that roof. so at the end of the day it was worth the trouble :-))

of course there where a few of those boats and murphy was right again! all of them arrived at the same time. there where loads of those little motorbikes and the driver held up big cardboard's with names on it. at last that worked out. the next thing was arriving at the hotel to find out there where only 2 doubles left. and of course it was happy new year price. in the end everything worked out and I shared the room with Dyane. if u are not into tempels better fast forward to part 3! now that is angkor - the biggest temple in angkor wat. the whole temple area is so big that u never see the next temples. they are somewhere out there in the jungle. 98/99 it was the big round with all that maya temples in mexico and guatemala. this time lots of temples in cambodia and the big hindu festival in malaysia. how come back home u never visit a church? even in france or scotland u stop for every second church if it is a little bigger than average. must be a tourist thing....   home | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
